Tapping Into Spinal Health in the Workplace

Each month on Talking Benefits, I join Julie Stich, Kelli Kolsrud and Justin Held, International Foundation benefits nerdthusiasts, to discuss a trending employee benefits topic we think the benefits world would want to know more about.

Tapping Into Spinal Health in the Workplace

This month, we tapped into musculoskeletal health in the workplace and interviewed a local chiropractor for inspiration on how workplaces can help employees improve their spinal health.

Spinal injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions can occur from repetitive movements—think factory workers doing the same motion over and over again, or hair stylists who stand for hours with their arms lifted. Another group of employees getting lots of attention in recent years are sedentary workers, those who sit at a desk and use a computer or other electronic devices for hours on end.

Whether workers are sedentary or on their feet, stress can plague any employee and cause additional strain on the body.

By tuning in, you’ll learn workplace fixes for a healthy body, from ergonomic desk layout considerations and good shoes to regular mindfulness sessions and walking stations. We also chat about how to help ease the transition back into work after an employee undergoes a musculoskeletal surgery or treatment.
