National Employee Benefits Day (NEBD) is coming up on April 2, 2026! This is the best holiday of the year (in my opinion) because it celebrates everyone who works in the employee benefits industry—which likely includes YOU, dear reader.

For over 20 years, NEBD has been celebrated each year in April. The day recognizes trustees, administrators, benefits practitioners and professional advisors for their dedication to providing quality benefits and the important role they play in their colleagues’ well-being. Go YOU!

Here’s what I’m most excited about this year: the THEME. I love a good theme, and this year’s is all about bringing people together and strengthening organizations and communities through giving back/volunteering.

After all, employee benefits is all about taking care of people—from protecting health and finances to improving work–life balance and looking ahead to the future of your workers. Volunteering and giving back reflect that same commitment and stem from the idea that supporting others creates stronger, more connected communities.

You work every day to improve the well-being of employees, but your impact reaches beyond the workplace. This NEBD, we’re celebrating how the core values of our industry (care, empathy and service) extend outward, shaping communities that are healthier, more supportive and more connected.

Gear up to celebrate by visiting ifebp.org/benefitsday. This microsite contains tons of great information, tools and inspirational stories from your benefits industry colleagues. Whether you are already engaging in volunteer initiatives at your organization or need some resources to get started, start by browsing through the site. New materials will be added throughout the month leading up to NEBD.

A free webcast will take place on NEBD, April 2, so plan on attending! You’ll hear from organizations leading impactful volunteer initiatives and learn best practices you can bring back to your own organization.

Register for the free webcast: From Interest to Impact: Building Effective Volunteer Initiatives at Your Organization.

Make sure to follow along with the Word on Benefits® blog throughout the month of March, leading up to NEBD. We’ll be sharing fresh blogs about volunteering/giving back.

Does your organization lead any volunteer initiatives? I’d love to hear your story and potentially feature it in an upcoming blog. You can email me at annep@ifebp.org.
